Travel with a Japan Rail Pass

There are several situations in which you may need to use lockers during your journey in Japan : before check-in or after checkout, during a one-day stop. Here are our tips.

You will find in Japanese Stations, many sizes of lockers. Please note that there are only a few big size lockers. 



For Example: Locker Size in Tokyo station :

  • Height 55 cm ×Width 34 com ×Depth 57 cm: 400 yen/day
  • Height 84 cm×Width 34cm ×Depth 57cm: 500 yen/day
  • Height 103cm×Width 34cm×Depth 57cm: 600 yen/day

Prices are usually between 200 yen/day to 600 yen/day depending on the size. You will have to pay only with 100 yen coins. Some lockers are also operated by IC cards or PIN codes.

In the stations There are lockers in all major stations. Sometimes they are inside the ticket gate, sometimes outside. It is very impressive for example in Akihabara where an entire floor in the station is dedicated to lockers.

In Kyoto Station, lockers are on the second floor just across from the Kyoto Tourist Office, outside the Hachijoguchi Exit near the taxi station and at the Main Chuo Exit.
